The Legend 800 SE is the top of the line solo cruiser in Ski-Doo's lineup. It boasts the very crème de la crème of 'Doo's technology for single seat sleds. For instance, the big Legend boasts a tag team of rear suspension gadgetry.
Below the techno fiber seat resides an SC-10 II skidframe outfitted with Ski-Doo's new Variable Rate shock on the front torque arm and a recalibrated BOSS electronic adjustable shock on the rear arm.
The new VR shock operates in the same manner as Polaris' Fox Position Sensitive unit, allowing oil to bypass the valve stack in the middle of the stroke for a plush ride, while stiffening up at the beginning and end of the stroke, when you want all the shock absorption you can get.
Ski-Doo explained that the BOSS rear shock has been recalibrated to deliver more differentiation between the sport and the comfort modes. Our test riders still felt that the differences are too slight to call.
"The new sport setting is not all that easy to discern," noted Test Rider Jerry Bassett. "I think the VR shock is a much better choice than the BOSS system."
The power cruiser uses the potent Rotax 800 twin to spin the track. The Legend comes standard with the electronic reverse system and Formula RER secondary clutch. The RER button also doubles as the start button for the electric start.
Ski-Doo's DPM system makes automatic adjustments to the carburetion as conditions change, keeping the engine running well all day long.
The Legend 800 SE comes stacked with other comfort cruising features, including the tilt steering found on the Grand Touring SE sleds in the past couple of years.
There's also an electrical outlet for GPS, radar detector or cell phone. The SE is available in a two-tone hood with either silver over blue or black on silver. There are also ample chrome accents on this top end cruiser.
The Legend 800 SE is priced at $8,999.
