A good student of the snowmobile industry would have expected the ZRT 600 to go the way of the dinosaur. Instead, Arctic Cat made a significant upgrade to the sled's powerplant last season. This season, it completely owns the 600 triple triple market, as the rest of the industry swings to twins.
Our test crew liked the little triple's output. "I wish three cylinders would come back," commented Test Rider Les Pinz. "They're much smoother and you get better power and fuel economy from them than you do from comparably-sized twins. This ZRT 600 motor is the perfect example. You rarely notice the weight."
Arctic Cat has refined a lot of the little things about its sleds for this season, including the ZRT. For instance, consumers will find the steering system has been cleaned and tightened up from the past's sloppy, loose handlebars and bell crank.
Another big change on the ZRT is the use of wide running boards. Though the sled doesn't get the Sno Pro handlebars like the ZRs, the extra foot space is a plus.
A lot stayed the same with the ZRT, too. Things like the ACT shocks used on all four corners of the sled, roll forward. The styling cues remain the same on this year's ZRT 600 as they were on the past triples. The ZRT 600 is priced at $7,699. That's well below the other remaining triple triples available on the market.
