Your sport-ute has electric start and reverse. Your sport ATV has electric start and reverse. And shortly so will your sports sled. If it's a Yamaha sports sled, it already comes standard with electric start and reverse. Presently the Vmax 600 Deluxe differentiates itself from the SX-R model by color (silver versus Yamaha blue) and a couple of features (key start and reverse). But in its soul, the Vmax Deluxe is all SX-R- and then some!

The all-aluminum chassis is the same ProAction design as all triple cylinder/single pipe Yamahas get. The suspension system, while a tad more supple than the gas shocks of the SX-R, is standard ProAction fare with trailing arm front end and 11.5 inches of mogul-absorbing power at the rear.

Don't kid yourself, under that silver cowling lies the same Yamaha 600cc single-piped triple cylinder engine used in the SX 600 R. It even has the same size and number of Mikuni flatslide carbs. And they're heated, too!

What makes this sports sled ahead of its time is that the mid-height windscreen, keystart system and reverse gearing that will most likely become standard fare on sports sleds of the near future- is available now. Based on our side-by-side tests this past spring, there is barely a sled's length difference between the blue SX 600 R and the silver Deluxe when it comes to wide open throttle straightline performance. But, there is a world of difference in convenience. We'll take our mogul mashers with convenience and keep the same performance. This sled lets you have the best of both worlds.

We've seen the future where keystart and reverse are as commonplace as handwamers- and we like it. Thank you, Yamaha!
