Ultimate Utility Vehicle
With the launch of Avalanche, Chevrolet expects to forge a new market segment called the Ultimate Utility Vehicle (UUV). Yet Avalanche will fit comfortably alongside those with which it will share a platform: Chevy's full-size sport utilities, the brand new Tahoe and Suburban, and the recently launched Silverado full-size pickup.
"There's a demand out there for 'something more' and Chevy Avalanche meets that demand on an emotional and utilitarian level," Ritter noted. "The force and magnitude with which Avalanche is received when people see it really does fit the name well. It makes a strong impact both visually and functionally."
Ritter also noted that the Avalanche name is a logical fit to attach to a long-standing Chevy Truck hallmark.
