2000 indy 340 deluxe

Amsnow
After a careful perusal of the latest specifications, we find that the year 2000 iteration of the Indy 340 Deluxe carries three major distinctions over its past year predecessor. It's very, very red. It has significant upgrades to its front suspension and a minor enhancement to its rear unit. And a $300 bump in suggested retail pricing.

The enhanced styling was done to make this sled less dowdy and more appealingto a younger, hipper rider. Kind of like what Cat's done with its racing green Z models. Take a solidly dependable sled and rework its image. This Polaris red is similar to the racing red seen on its snocrossers. Even the seat gets a makeover, going from last year's frumpy black to two-toned red and black. There is added appeal here.

While it's doubtful you'd seriously consider racing an electric-start-equipped sled, you'd find that the front suspension enhancements lend themselves to substantially better handling than we've seen on past Indy 340s. The ski stance gains four inches from last season's 37-inch center-to-center width. There's also a torsion bar that greatly improves the sled's cornering ability. Despite the added width, maximum front travel remains the same as before at seven inches.

The rear suspension is essentially the same as last season. The key addition is shock rods on the XTRA-Lite design which increase durability of the suspension shock.

Under the hood is one of the trustiest of all Polaris powerplants. TheFuji-built 339cc fan-cooled twin is a proven workhorse in rental fleets across the snowbelt. A simple piston-port design, the motor breathes through dual round slide 30mm Mikunis and exhales into a y-piped single exhaust tuner.

At a claimed 417 pounds, the 2000 Indy 340 Deluxe weighs in the same as last year. And that's really the story of this 2000 Polaris. The Indy340 Deluxe remains as solid a value as its predecessors. Plus, in its newPolaris' racin' red, the 2000 Deluxe is anything but dowdy!
