As we mentioned last issue, Polaris was going to unveil a new WideTrak model. This past November Polaris introduced a limited production build of its new Indy WideTrak GT which is powered by Polaris' proven 488cc fan-cooled engine with dual 34 mm carburetors. The engine differs from the 488cc twin used in the Polaris Indy Trail as the piston skirts are two millimeters longer for superior low end power. A high/low range transmission with reverse gear optimizes the engine's power and enhances the sled's utility in tough conditions and under load.
The new deep lug track measures 20 inches in width and 141 inches in overall length. With this kind of footprint the Indy WideTrak GT makes an ideal snowmobile for transporting gear or passengers through deep snow. The Indy WideTrak GT provides superior flotation and an improved ride when coupled with Polaris' industry leading Independent Front Suspension and slide rail rear suspension.
Transport features on the Indy WideTrak GT include: a large capacity rear carrier, roomy under seat storage, tow hitch, and a plush two-up seat complete with a backrest. For operator comfort the WideTrak GT comes standard with an extra large protective windshield, handwarmers, and thumbwarmer. Other standard features include: a speedometer, trip meter, carbide ski runners, ten gallon fuel tank, and halogen headlight. The Indy WideTrak GT shares the same graphics as Polaris' liquid cooled WideTrak model. The rich Porche red hood is complimented with sport blue, white, black, silver, and charcoal accents.
At a suggested U.S. list of only $5,249, the Indy WideTrak GT is the lowest priced snowmobile in the heavy duty utility segment and provides further testament to the Polaris commitment of providing quality products to all segments of the snowmobiling community.
