Beginning this month, the racers that make up Team Arctic will begin to make their presence known throughout the American and Canadian snowbelt.
"The 1992-93 season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in the long and successful history of Team Arctic Racing," said Team Arctic manager Joey Hallstrom.
"Arctic Cat has confirmed plans to strengthen an already powerful line-up of Thundercats, Wildcat and EXT stock class sleds with new stock-class qualified snowmobiles - the ZR's.
"This season we will have the most potent line-up of talented and experienced drivers racing for Team Arctic since the days of Larry Coltom and Dave Thompson when they dominated Sno Pro with their Arctic Cat Z factory racers in the 1970s."
This season, Team Arctic includes the racing talents of Brian Sturgeon, Steve Thorsen and Dean Schwarzwalter in ovals; Kirk Hibbert and Brian Nelson in cross country; and Greg Hennel in drags. Returning this season will be 1992 MRP High Point champion Aaron Scheele and MRP open stock champion Doug Lamm.
Newcomers include Eric Loge and Gary Goskey who will race for the new cross country teams headed by veterans Brian Nelson and Dan Enns. They will focus their efforts on the International 500 and the new ISOC cross-country circuit.
Other Arctic Cat racers include: Keith Young, Darrell LaPlant in USSA, Jim Herzig in USSA stock, Brian Schultz in stock and the stock teams of Ed and Dan Devault and Dale Lindbeck and Michael Richter, who will also compete in select stock and modified classes.
Out West, Rex Hibbert and Steve Hill team up for Arctic Cat to race the RMXCRC circuit, including Jackson Hole. They will be joined by Donnie Williamson and Kevin and Jeff Kilroy. And, in the oval enduro venue, the Mike Quanda team will be assisted by top enduro driver John Bosek.
