1990 prowler vs phazer ii split decision

Point of View
We fully anticipate that this new Arctic Cat is the first of many Prowler-type Cats to come. In fact, we'll predict that within five years, the old first generation AFS Cats will be pretty much history and that current Cat names will be adorning this new Cat chassis. We foresee fan-cooled Jags, liquid-cooled El Tigres and Wildcats, two-up fans and liquids, stretch tracked Prowler-bodies, and more based on this new Cat.
All the standard Cat options can be fitted to this Prowler. Expect electric start, reverse, etc., to either be offered on a deluxe version or as options on a base model.
As far as the Phazer II, you can expect to see the Phazer continuing its dominance. It has been the best selling snowmobile in the world for the past five years. Another nifty plus for the Phazer is that aftermarket performance shops stock "go-fast" kits for this engine and you can get a quick 11 horsepower as easy as adding a new pipe. Cat parts for the Prowler will come, but don't expect a flood of performance products this first season.
Now then, that leaves us with a final opinion. Sorry, and we know it sounds like an old-fashioned cop-out, but in a showdown between the new Arctic Cat Prowler and Yamaha's all new Phazer II, the verdict is split. Our test riders were prime examples of what we expect will happen when snowmobilers have to make a final choice and lay their cash on the line. Cat fans will love the new Phazer-killer from Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Yamaha fans, especially Phazer owners, will pooh-pooh the Copy Cat and ride a "II." Either decision sounds like a winner to our split staff!
