Exclusive SnoWest Mountain Sled Buyer's Guide

Published in the September 2010 Issue September 2010 Feature, Snow Tests

Yes, the sun is still shining brightly and the temperatures are very comfortable. Hunting season is right around the corner and you're probably still racking up miles on your ATVs and side-by-sides.

Some of you might not even be ready to let summer go.

But it really is time to start thinking about that new snowmobile-more specifically, that new mountain snowmobile.

We've compiled a list of every snowmobile purpose-built for riding in the western United States and Canada. Often referred to as "long tracks" because of their extended tracks, these sleds are designed for the steep terrain and deep snows you find here in the West.

We're presenting specific technical specs for each model so you can compare them head- to-head but you'll have to wait for upcoming issues this fall for the SnoWest SnowTest crew's detailed ride impressions. We promise it will be worth the wait.

As a side note, some of the following sleds are spring-only models and may not be available. However, to show each manufacturer's complete lineup we chose to include all that has been or will be offered to the consumer for this season.
