Normally by the time we start talking about the Intermountain Snowmobile Show in Salt Lake City we've just come through a summer of warm weather and we're anxiously awaiting snow for the upcoming winter.
That's still the case, but there's one slight difference this year. There's still snow in the mountains from last season. On a recent trip where we flew over Utah's Wasatch Mountains and Rockies in Colorado, we could still see lots of snow.
That makes us even more excited for the upcoming winter and there really is no better way to get through Fall than to hit a snowmobile show.
Sponsored by SnoWest Magazine and the Utah Snowmobile Association, the Intermountain Snowmobile Show is Oct. 21-22 at the Salt Lake County Events Center in South Jordan, a suburb of Salt Lake City. Times for the snow show this year are Friday from 3-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Definitely one of the highlights of the snow shows is the opportunity to see all the new sled models. The Intermountain Snowmobile Show has your fix. You'll get to see the 2012 Arctic Cat, Ski-Doo, Polaris and Yamaha snowmobiles.
After you pick out that new sled you'll want to stop by one of the many trailer dealers to see which trailer might be a good transport for your sled. Don't stop there though, as there will also be hundreds of accessories and aftermarket parts to accessorize your sled as well as keep you warm while riding it.
There will also be representatives from several sledding vacation spots at the show to give you some ideas of great places to ride.
Even if you're not in the market for a new snowmobile, you should be able to find an aftermarket part or two to help you ride another year. And if the snow show isn't enough to get you revved up for the upcoming season, you can pick up a snowmobile video while there and wear the DVD out watching it as you wait for the snow.
If you didn't make it to Thief River Falls, MN, for Arctic Cat's 50th Anniversary celebration at the end of July, don't worry. The party will continue as Cat celebrates its 50th Anniversary at the snow show.
Cat will be showing the 50th Anniversary DVD in its booth and what a trip back through time. You'll most likely recognize many of the commentators and racers as they share their passion for Arctic Cat.
Cat is also inviting Arctic Cat fans to join it for lunch at each of the SnoWest snowmobile shows. You can stop by the Arctic Cat booth wearing your Arctic Cat "colors" to receive your ticket for lunch, which is sponsored by Arctic Cat. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.
Before you head home you will want to stop by one of the many seminars we have planned. Learn how to take your riding to the next level, know what to watch for and how to protect yourself in avalanche territory or ask one of the experts how to make your sled run better.
We will also be working on our newest project sled. You can watch as the SnoWest staff and other invited sled builders bring to life the newest project sled, a Ski-Doo Summit. Other great events planned for the Intermountain Snowmobile Show include the annual vintage snowmobile display, as well as the newest addition, The Western Power Sports/Ultimax Mod Show. That's right, new this year is the Mod Show where you can compete for prizes when you enter your tricked-out sled in the show. Bring all your friends and make sure they vote for you as the winner is chosen by those at the snow show.
We will also be giving out lots of door prizes.
When you stop by the SnoWest booth to renew your subscription to our magazine, make sure you get your name entered into our latest contest, the 12 Days of SnoWest. This prize package is the biggest we've ever put together and you'll want to make sure you have a shot at the many different prizes we're giving away.
Don't forget the annual swap meet, which takes place outdoors on Saturday.
These are just the highlights of what you can expect at the Intermountain Snowmobile Show. Keep an eye on www.intermountainshow.com for continued updates.
