The kit you buy in my experance is the same cost as the individule parts so they are a good deal. You may be able to find a bargin on the parts somewhere else but then you are guessing on the right combination.
I have had Tri city and Carls kits in the past and had good luck with both. I have also had SLP's and was left a little unhappy because it generated too much heat. (I felt this likly indicated a poor set up). Just my two cents.
