Polaris Track- F-Bomb Mod

I have read some forums about the f-bomb track mod and it sounds like a great cheap easy mod. I am debating on just cutting .25" off the tip and not putting the screws in the lugs. Can someone give me advice on whether the screws make a huge difference or is just cutting the lugs .25" off good enough? (I have a 2009 Polaris 700 RMK 155")

Just cut. I did and I mainly ride in the flats. It's night and day different on hard pack.
