I heard people say the 07' has 142hp, the 08'-145hp and the 09' 147hp. What are the real hp specs for those years and if they are different, what makes up the difference? I've never heard of Cat changing things on the 800's

I do believe it is in the fuel mapping. If you have an '07 see if it can be upgraded to the later yrs?

Don't the M7's make something like 140hp? Why buy an M8 that has 142?

Just a random question

A good running 7 makes 140 and the 8 in fat form makes 142-145 with way more potential.
hp# from Dyno Tech.

moving target hp

The hp figures you see for M8's and the range in numbers reflect the variations from mcahine to machine and if you are looking at numbers from one dyno facility to the other, easy a 2-4% differential.

If you go back and look at the extensive dyno tests and tuning DYNO TECH did on the laydown 700 from the early 700 Firecats through the 06 sleds, many were in the 135 hp range on the dyno until the timing was tweaked, the fuel delivery tweaked, then 142-145, .........stock and no tweaking if I recall the best 700 was around 146 hp. So if you always thought your pals 700 was faster than yours, very possibly 10 hp faster, luck of the draw when you took it home.

The 800's have had their fuel delivery changed yearly since the 07. Leaner and meaner ? depends upon who you ask.........after running several boxes from 08 and reflashed 07 boxes on my 07 M8, I went back to the fatter stock 07 square box becasue it allowed me to load the motor a lower rpm and pull harder just after engagement..........felt like the best boondocking combination for me ? The leaner 08 box wouldn't allow that much weight and helix at 4000 rpm.

I had the factory update done to my 07 and in stock form it was okay. I was told when it was reflashed that they added fuel in the mid range because it was getting hot and melting everything under the hood. After putting a pipe on I had a mid range bog. Took fuel out of the mid range and the bog went away. So imo, if you are going to put a pipe on or already have a pipe, leave it alone.

Big Hoe, Before you put on the pipe did the reflash seem to do anything through the mid range and topend?
