Lets talk sled prices

So on Feb 10 I bought a 09 M8 162. I added a skid plate, riser, and simmon skis. After tax, title, freight, setup etc. I was out the door at $9950.

This was the only 162 I could find in my area, I did find a SP 162 but they wanted $9900 before all the other charges.

What did you guys pay OUT THE DOOR.

Part 2 - Now lets talk 09 used prices. I am trying to sell this sled now. It has 500 miles and is in perfect condition. I am asking $8500 which is a $1500 hit since I bought it. It has gotten lots of looks but no responces, am I way out of line on this price or are people not buying right now?

What are new 09's going for? Are there any still around?

People are always claiming they bought sleds for ridiculously low prices but are we talking base price or out the door, I called all over the west and there just wasn't that much difference in prices, not worth driving 500 - 1000 miles.

When I look at used sleds I would buy a stocker never touched and do my own mods before I buy one that is all modded and I have to figure out someone elses program. What is the general opinion on this?

Lets hear some real prices and thoughts on the used market.

Out-the-door pricing doesn't seem to be a good comparison because tax, license and registration rates very greatly state-to-state.

My local dealer has your sled for $8000 plus tax. A used one is going to have to be priced less.

P.S. Modifications/extras on a used sled are worthless - Pull them off and sell them separately.

I just bought the M8 Le for 8300 out the door. They had 08 m8 for cheap and 09 m8 for cheap. There is a place in Lake Oswego, Oregon that is taking a 900 loss on their sno pros and selling at 8000 for the 09. I have been trying to sell a couple of snowmobiles and have ton of calls but no lookers. It is at rock bottom price as well.
Good luck. I would hold on to it till next fall.

It's a really tough market to sell anything. I just bought a brand new 09 Doo 800 for $8085. That doesn't help the used market at all. Check KSL.com, about 1500 sleds for sale, very competitive. I think everything is at the bottom and I wouldn't be surprised to see prices climb by next fall.

I agree with what has been said above prices are great for the buyers, seen new sleds selling for thousands less then they did in the spring. have one buddy trying to move an m1000 with slp clutching pipe cold air intake and can along with a lot of other extras with only 1000 miles on it. At a price in the mid 6 ish he hasn't had but a few calls.

'08 M8 153 in February for $7200 plus tax. I was looking used at first and found many sleds $6500 and up used. Several asking more than I paid.

It seems like Cat drops thier prices like a rock after Jan.

Polaris sure as hell doesn't, 163 Dragons were still 9K last I looked.

I guess I paid too much in Feb, but I sure have had fun on this sled.

There were plenty of good deals on 08 models around here.

RMS had a few 09 153's for 7600 + + + +, which put them out the door at like $8400, but I wanted a 162.

I just can't believe that dealers/Cat are selling new 09 162's for 8K or less, it kills the used market.

I would wait till fall and find a holdover 09, probably get a smokin deal. My wife wants a M8 so maybe it will all be a wash in the end.

WMD might I ask why you are selling the sled only after a couple months of riding? That 09 is a great sled, just curious. Oh and I paid 9800 otd for my sled last November, it was a snochecked 09 m8 162 sp. fyi.

In Feb. I got a 09 M8 std. OTD with 2 year warranty, skid plate, riser for
8400. Asking price was 7800 without taxes and extras (leftover prices I assume.) Also this was a 153" Hope that helps.

Used prices are truly in the crapper all right. I bet 90% of what is on the swap meet is not going to sell. It is only the very best deals that are moving. End of the season, economy, consertive lending, dealers moving carry over stock and a whole host of other outside issues all effecting the used and new market. There is also pretty good odds it won't get much better next fall depending on what the economy does. If your selling and it has "gotta go" best to price it accordingly, or keep it and get your money out of it in use. It's simply supply and demand.

Desperado, I agree the 09 is a great sled but if I could sell it I would buy a new 2010 next year. My wife wants a 153 so I can't really pass it on.

It looks like you got a good price on your SP.
