I have an 07' M8. It seems like I have great low to mid but falls off on the mid to top. I have about 170hp on mine and was wondering if anybody has geared there's up a little?

Don't think anybody is gearing them up, I think the m1000 is geared higher. Some guys are putting m8 gears in there m1000 i beleive.

Not sold on these kits. I am getting shift out. Just wondering with the extra hp from stock if this is something that I should look at

You are getting full shift out on your secondary? Why are you not sold on these? I have the RKT setupt and the backshift is way better on the hill it made a huge difference. I noticed a little better upshift also but I rarely go over 50-60mph I'm always in the mountains.

Uphill drag race on hard pack I do well until about 60mph and then it kinda flattens out. I see the same when drag racing on the flat. I will pull most sleds until about 45-50mph. I would like to see it pull a little longer and was wondering if a little different gear ratio would help that out. Back shift it great and I love the way it climbs. It almost has too much snap on the low end. Clutching is good I just think this is a gearing issue. Technically I am making about 20hp more than stock and have dropped about 12% of the stock weight. Should I be able to pull a higher ratio?

I wonder if it's a fuel related layover? What mods do you have and do you have a fuel box? I would think with higher gears your going to run into the same problem. But I have never really tried any regearing on sleds so I really couldn't comment on it.

I ride with a M8 turbo. It has stock gears and will run 90 mph before it is shifted out on top. M1000 has taller gears 60/60 and a little more top end. What are you getting max top on harpack?

That is a good question. On a flat road I have seen mid to upper 70's before I have to shut off but there are not a lot of smooth long areas to check this.

The turbo is probably running more hp, but that being said the stock gearing should be good for around 85 - 90 mph. After that it starts building tach. I wouldn't gear it up if 85 fast enough. The taller gears trench a little worse in powder and heat the belt more than the stock M8 gears. Are you running stock rear helix (36) for mountains? The 38 seems to shift through a little better and is still good in the powder. On the hard, we have run 42-38 and it works real good. Shifts faster though and will trench more in the powder. If you are satisfied with the top speed, I would suggest clutching. What altitude are you at?

3-6000' I'm running the 40/36 helix with the orange and a shift assist. 73g cat weights and a 120/320 SLP primary spring(blk/red)

Big Red, There sure seems to be a lot of guys that changed their gears on the M1000. I bet there are a ton of M1000 owners with stock gears laying under there shop benches. Maybe someone would let you "test" their gear set if you agreed to buy them if you like the way the sled works with M1000 gears?

I just put a set of 73 gr. weights in mine up from 71gr. Cutler adjustables.
(CPC weights are for sale) Yellow/White primary spring

Now Pulling 7800 rpm(from the factory tach) and I am now topped out at 76mph. I could get 80+ out of it at 8100 rpm brfore the change.
However it now pulls like a freight train, Climbs like it should and I will leave it alone. It is just more fun to ride. I ride a lot with a young guy on a King Cat and we race from time to time for fun. they were always pretty much even. Now I am pulling him some from the start
07 M8 speedwerx pipe and can,CPC secondary kit.

I've been thinking of gearing up also. Might try 59/61

I ride in Upper MI "UP" and we like to line up and drag race a lot. I have an 09 M8 SP and my buddy just got a new 08 M8. He put in an orange/white spring and would pull me in the mid range and a little on top. So I got that spring and we were even again but now I'm over revving at 7880RPM. We are running 77g weights and 44/40cams

Then he put in a set of 80g weights with a 46/38cam and now he pulls me big time in the mid range. His sled runs mid 90's and I only see mid 80's. My sled tops out in about 600ft and stops pulling so I want to put some more gear in it.

We feel the PowerClaw track is holding me back on the top end. He has a challenger but I love my Powerclaw!

By the way...Longtracks and long top end pulls on the flat lands equal lot's of trashed belts!! LOL!
