i have an 2003 polaris 800 edge, and i was wondering if you ever have to change the gaskets and the plastic diaghram gaskets in it, or if it doesnt really ever need to be replaced.

Usually not. As long as it is delivering enough fuel you don't have to do any preventive maintenance.
