Looking for additional info. I have a Boondocker with SLP single pipe, 2008 M1000 with the latest '09 reflash... Currently running SLP '09 #'s for the Boondocker. They aren't quite there.... problem is around 5000-6000 rpm ....does anyone have any input on this?

I have a 07 with the 09 re flash, started with slp numbers had a bog at 5000to 6000 rpm. I added fuel at 5000 lo -1 mid -3 6500 -3 mid -7 bog disapeared It is rich on top Im pulling fuel from 7200 7500 and 7800 still under 1200 degrees wot at 7650 rpm. I would be lost with out an egt gauge.

i found the problem spot on the 6500rpm range on HI - it was VERY rich here. just pull a little fuel off these spots and see how she doesn. I actually added fuel in mid 5000 and mid 6500 compared to SLPs numbers.

my 09 the lowest number I have in the middle is -2 added fuel every where.

really!? What PSI are running? You ride a lot higher than i do, but i've been tuning mine in the AFR which does seem to help, but i got my ratios dialed now at full pull 12.9 and my mid range is all but gone... she's running REAL good now.

I chose NOT to reflash my 07 on any reflash requests and used a BD box For my SLP setup and it was easier to tune and ran perfect. As far as my 09', I have the same bog which is actually affected by air density adjustments as well. I have noticed changes like I did in my 06 King Cat when going up and down in altitude. I have tuned most of it out without hitch but I notice that my EGT's and plug color did not change much when I did so. So at this point, I think I will again reject the reflash of the ECU. This is my personal opinion and choice, not meant to influence any of you. :)

I'm guessing, but this will be close

rpm lo mid hi
3000 -01 00 00
5000 -02 -02 00
6500 00 -02 -03
7200 00 03 06
7500 00 08 22
7800 00 09 26

I set the fuel pressure at 42 psi at sea level. What fuel pressure are your numbers set from? What is your riding altitude?

keeps the temps down all across the board without bogs, I'm as confused about it as you are by now
sometimes I have to add or remove just a little hear and there. just depends on what kind of riding I want to do.

Putting on the setup this friday

Well I picked up an SLP single kit and BD box that i'm going to install friday night. This might sound a little stupid but i noticed that some of you guys are putting down your fuel pressure, are you running a regulator too, or are you getting that from your boony box? I'm new to arctic cat and the boony box so... , I ride mostly 3000-6000 ft., what are some safe numbers to start with for an 09 M1000?

Some numbers

Well i just wanted to thank WyoBoy1000 for the info and letting me call and get his numbers. I don't know why i waited this long to get the pipe set but am very happy with it. I decided to run between SLP's recommended numbers and the ones that WyoBoy gave me, i did a plug test a couple different times and they both came out cinnamon brown! Here are my numbers:

3000 00 00 00
5000 -2 00 +1 Might lean it out some here (little bog) but with an
6500 -2 -4 00 airbox mod might not need to
7200 00 10 +1
7500 00 +6 +9
7800 00 +9 +15

I am still running the stock air box (for now!) I was pulling a steady 7600-7700 climbing clutch setup:

primary spring: red/white
weights: AC 75g
Secondary spring: stock orange
Helix: 46/40P (Thinking of going 44/36)
Shift assist

Stock 60/60 gears (Thinking about gearing down)

That is what i've got :) critique if you want, i'm always looking for better performance :D

what belt, I had a bog anytime I punched it or 1-2 second delay with the 060 belt( seconday not keeping up going to a 44/36) but with the 046 no bog, but the 60 pulls harder with the bog than the 46 without.
I'm actually at 51psi F/P. Loads up on the bottom a little when putting around thick trees but on a hard long pull the temps stay down. I'll prob back it off a little once I get my clutching working right.

Guys, I have to ask aquestion related to this topic.

I was riding at 5-7,000 feet yesterday with my 09 M8 with the stock airbox and SLP single pipe setup and no fuel controller.

What I was seeing on my EGT gauge scared me and frankly, I had to quit looking. They must somehow be wrong but I know I was seeing well over 1,300 degrees (1346 was the highest I remember seeing before I quit looking). The right cylinder was a tad bit hotter then the left. Heck, if this was correct I should have been going home on the end of a rope. This was in the midrange. At WOT I was more like 1,100 degrees.

I should have pulled and checked the plugs but, I did not. The dealer installed my pipe before delivery and I have a two year warranty so I figured, hopefully if the sled burned down they'd take care of me. I was running 89 octane since there seemed to be no agreement between 87 and 92 octane. The fuel pumps in this entire area say "up to 10% ethanol" so that may be the issue right there.

Has anyone else seen this? I'm almost scared to look at the pistons and skirts or ride again without a fuel controller.

Thoughts?

Well i'm also new to the use of the fuel controller this year. As far as the warranty goes unless it's something you worked out with your dealer I'm pretty sure that AC won't warranty it if something happens with the pipe on. Could be wrong but that's what i was told. If it was me i would check things over real good before the next ride. You shouldn't need a controller on the M8 so....
