just went from a 144-151 and was looking at dropping the rear end down 2 inches or so.

just wondering how far people are moving the skid location backwards for good results. i was thinking 2 inches back and 2 inches down in the rear.

so by moving it back by 2 and down 2 what does that improve???

Been a while since I had my 01 zx. I do not know if kinetic is still around but they had a drop and roll kit for the zx. They also had a skid relocation kit that moved the skid about the same as BU1 did. It was for the 01's which updated them to the 02 specs with a set back and shorter rails. If I remember correctly you could run a 151" track and use 141 or 144 rails. Sorry its been a while and cannot remember exactly what I got from them, but it worked well.

With the '01, match the measurements on the '02 and you should be able to fit the 151 without any rail extensions. This will make the approach ALOT better....just like the '02. You HAVE TO mover the front the same amount as the rear (back). You can drop just the rear, but going more than about 1" really screws with the handling and tends to make them nose heavy.

Set Back

3.75" Back front and rear

.75" Down front

2.00" to 2.25 Down rear depending on how much weight you want on the skiis.

Suspension Relocation

It is Critical that you keep the spacing of the mounting points as they are or it will cause suspension to bind up. You can drop and slide back as much as you want however keep in mind that you will be increasing your approch angle. However 2 inches in the rear is really a min amount.
A Quick reply to the referance to Kinetic's. Owners was Rick he sold set-ups to a number of people and even got Team industries to use his set-up which was a disaster as Rick is a trail rider and doesn't climb really at all. Took me two seasons to get mine set-up right. As testing wasn't being to corectly for team industries. Helix's and springs and weights were all way off.

True the 01-144 rails are the same as the 02-151 rails Checked on my 01-144 and 02 151 . So if you set it up like the 02 the rails should work. Onlt diff.is the the 02 had a rolled case

Don't know what team did, but the kinetic kit I used with the drop and roll and skid relocation was built to match the 02 geometry exactly and it worked very well in all situations. I sold it to a friend of mine and it is still kicking butt. I did however modd it out with a 996 and countless lightweight parts to get it there.
