I love these threads. It just so happens that everybody thinks the sled they bought this year is the best. I don't suppose this topic will ever die considering the fact that there is no way to ever prove one way or another.
I'm not to proud to say it the way it is. I bought an XP and I love the sled. Yes I have had to make some changes to get it working the way I want it to. Most days it will beat the 800 Dragon and the 800 Cat up the mountain. I have had a few days where it would'nt. Yes, I have been out pulled by an 800Dragon. It's amasing how one day can change snow conditions enough to knock you off the top. For some reason there are days when the 800 Cat has out pulled both the 08 XP and the 08 Dragon. Not many but a few.
Now, if I'm going to be totally honest, I want a turbo. It has become apparent at least in my part of the country that turbos rule.
If were talking stock right out of the box, the Dragon 800 is my choice for best of 08. If were going to allow for some changes the XP would be my choice. If were talking what 08 sled can you get to work the best all around it would be the Nytro with boost, unless of course we allow room for the guy who can afford to spend 35 or 40 K on the 08 Apex in which case I still believe it rules in all types of riding except jumping, but I don't really consider that a style of riding because you only do it until your old enough to shave.
Everyday I ride I realize riding is getting split into 2 catagories. The bunny hill, and the turbo hills. What use to be big dawg hills have been turned into bunny hills by the turbos. I love the guys I ride with, but we now have 2 directions for everywhere we go. The turbo guys go one way and the rest of us go another way and we meet up on the other side. Who ever thought 5 years ago an 1150 would have to take the bunny trail to the other side of the mountain.
Best sled for 08 is either the Nytro or the Apex. Just depends on how much money you figure out how to spend. Thank goodness we live in a country where how much money we make and spend is only limited by the limitations we put on ourselves.
One other point I want to make. I have pulled out 2 XP's, 2 Dragons, and one M8. so far this year, all pretty much stock. I have yet to pull out a turbo sled of any brand. I have seen them have a few problems on the hill, but so far they have managed to come out under their own power. That's 5 stock sled and 0 mod sleds. And yes, we do have more mod sleds in the group then stock sleds. I think this is caused from working the stock sleds to hard trying to keep up with the turbos. IMO.
