You ride the Snowy's??? We need your help!

You absolutely correct Albany Mountain!

Really this email list has nothing to do with BCA. It is more about being organized as a group with an mechanism to distribute important news from the Snowy Range.

I disagree.
BCA is actively working to take away access from a specific group.
Sledders are the ones that blaze trails open & come to the rescue.
Sledders are the ones that support the local businesses.
Sledders are the ones that have to buy off-road permits & donate to S&R.

BCA, and many others like them, are far less conservation groups and much more anti-use political agenda groups.

Furthermore, I submit that sledders bring more to the Albany & Carbon county economies than all the other Snowy Mountain Range users combined; fuel, permits, food, beverage, lodging, parts, rentals...

Additionally, those trucks & trailers pay a lot in state and federal taxes versus that of a Subaru or bicycle.

AND by sheer numbers, the Citizens are not being represented by the elected folks if sledding is to be discriminated against.

From a midwest flatlander's perspective

Every March I am lucky enough to join my brother and several others from Iowa (I am now from IL) on a trip to the Snowies. We stay at Centennial or Ryan Park for the very fact that those are the most appropiate places to stay to be closest to the type of riding we love. To say that we all should be parking near Albany doesn't make any sense. All snowmobilers don't want to stay south of Hwy 130. They will find a way to park somewhere closer to get to the treasured riding north of 130. There needs to be a bigger area at Green Rock to accomodate this high use!
This is not to say that the south area isn't awesome riding and it is the area to go if you do more trail riding than off trail. I took my family to the snowies a couple of years ago so they could see why I go out there. My wife and daughters loved the scenery and we spent a lot of time on the great trails south of 130 but still went off trail to some popular spots.
The point is, the Snowies are a wonderful destination but if people think that they can "herd" the snowmobilers to the south then they really don't understand why we go there. And from our end, we probably don't understand the "silent sport" person as well as we should. It will be very hard to have separate areas at Green Rock, we are going to have to share.

I wrote a letter to the parking lot issue and here's my response:

Dear Mr. Beasley,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your concerns regarding the snowmobile parking lot proposal for the Snowy Range. At this time, we are going to re-evaluate potential locations before moving forward with any proposal. As we look for potential parking locations, we will be looking for a parking arrangement that is 1) safe, 2) sustainable for natural resources, 3) economically sustainable and 4) minimizes social impacts.

We will include your name on the e-mail mailing list to include in our next formal scoping process.

Thank you and continue to respect and enjoy your National Forest
