You gotta love those D7's

Please don't bash me for my stupidity, but I feel this is significant enough to be shared.

Since there is zero snow at my house and springtime conditions prevail, I took out my 07D7 136 for the first time this year. While it came up a bit short in the surprise 4-10 feet of snow that we found, that's not the story. Being the first ride, I still had my full tank of last year's fuel. While I intended to stop for some octane boost, it didn't happen. Top it off, the temps rose into the mid 40's during the day. About mid-day, the sled did start to run a bid different. Only on the last run did my buddy suggest detonation and that big brightt light came on. Old fuel, no octane, hot temps, and running the pi$$ out of her.

Suffice it to say, I wasn't looking forward to the look-see. Pulled the plugs, they were both dripping wet! Not oil, looked more like water. Borescoped the inards and was pleasantly surprised. While not stellar (albeit a clean mocha gray), it was clean and wet with no sign of damage from the detonation. Same situation, my 800 would be in pieces.

Sorry for the long rant, but I am so impressed with how that motor took my abuse and shows no damage whatsoever. Yeah, I'll drain the remaining fuel just to be nice to her now.
