Yeti Ski alteration to center runner

I think I will keep the yeti ski and try trimming some plastic from the side scoops only in the front. I noticed my buddies mototrax ski has kinda the same self turning habit as the yeti in spring snow but it is not nearly as agressive so its easier to correct and straighten out. The mototrax has smaller plastic side runners that extend almost to the tip. The ts side runners end about where the center keel ends.

My Yeti ski got in a fight with my Sawzall and lost. I basically cut the front plastic side Runners from almost where the metal starts all the way to the tip in a fairly straight line.

I tried it today in all kinds of weird snow and it works great. Is still more aggressive than the ts so it takes more strength to turn but never good off on its own direction any more.

Adjusting the fork ride height one bar can also make a very noticeable diffence, if you feel the ski is a bit too "grabby" try drop the forks one "notch"

Also tried trimming down the plastic sides. started one inch from the metal on the sides. Way better handling on steep slopes. Doesn't grab the up hill slope unexpectedly any more. Also welded in a carbide left over from my sled once the Yeti one was worn flat. Handling is more aggressive than the ts pictured but tamer on the hard pack now.
