Yeti 2020 product FIRST RIDE

The efficiency is gained in the way the track comes off the top of the drivers, flat to the rear idlers, and the new introvert / extrovert drivers. Along with being able to run a looser track tension and the 5.5" rail spacing being more efficient.

The 20% is measured by my calibrated butt dyno.

20% is a truly conservative number. I was riding my 2018 YZ450F with exhaust and intake with a 2019 Yeti 137 with my RMS MX setup. The demo bike was a bone stock FE501 2020 Yeti 137 with full emissions, stock air filter with a prefilter in 1' of blower fresh pow. It felt like there was an anchor tied to the back of my Yamaha compared to the demo 2020. It was amazing.

Impressive ???

Quoted so you can’t change it. ??

How does rail spacing change drive efficiency?

I asked the same question, and they told me that the rails being placed in this section of the track provide the most efficient power transfer when aligned with the new driver configuration. In addition the track is allowed to flex in a U shaped manner that grabs even more snow than being flat. It made some sense to me.

I am not the engineering teem. I just can verify what I rode.

I will have this bike with the 2020 Yeti 137 with me at the Frozen Cow Tag from 3/15-18 if anyone want to ride it. I will be happy to share.

After I get back to Colorado I will have a 129FR and a 137MT 2020 on shop bikes for customers to experience.

Damn I hope that we can retro the suspension linkage/track/driver combo on older kits. Toby you ever see a 137 that bent the substructure that the bike plates mount to? My chain started to slack off every 20 min, noticed that the kit was at an angle to bike, thawed out now, and there is an obvious arc from the jackshaft bearing, thru the strut mount plate, past the snail adjuster doohickey. Sorry for the highly technical terminology. Scared to look at parts fiche. I would gladly spend while shes apart over summer to update...:face-icon-small-win:face-icon-small-win! Good thing SS season is almost here!

Toby,
When will Yeti be releasing 2020 details and snowcheck info? Still nothing on their website. And will these updates only be available on the 137 or also on the 129? Thanks.

Last season was April 2nd if I remember right. It only gives you about 10 days of crossover with TS to make a decision which I personally find annoying.

Upper suspension shaft

Can you please tell me if u remember if the rear shock upper roller wheels were on the inside or outside of the rails/ reactor arms. The reason I ask is because I have the same thing 5.5” spacing that I made myself and a 11.5” track. It’s tight fitting the wheels between the narrow spacing and I’m curious if I will be able to buy the 2020 shaft that would allow me to put the upper rollers on the outside of the rails.

The 2020 Yetis are up on the website. Looks like the 129 SS is gone unless I'm missing something.

Yes, no 129SS for 2020 snow check. There is not much support for the 129SS now that the 129FR has 5.5” rail spacing and handles equal to the 129SS, but with so much more flotation.

We have been putting down many hours on the new 2020 Yeti 137MT with the 5.5” rail spacing, and now that we have entered into spring time hard crusty snow we are truly amazed about how well the Fatboy Slim design rides and performs, even on super hard crusty spring snow.

First time we got to see the 2020 Yeti 137MT Fatboy Slim in action coming around the corner on perfectly groomed trails it showed us in the snow exactly what this wide track on narrow rails is doing. You can see in the picture below that the track on the left is the Fatboy Slim only riding on the outside paddles of the track as it goes around the corner. When compared to the 2018 129SS dispersing its weight across the entire track even on 5.5” rail spacing.

Toby, I no longer see the factory tunnel cooler option on the Yeti website. Will the 2020 still have the option of a factory tunnel cooler? Sure hope so!

Also, what does one get for snowchecking a 2020 that is not included in an in season kit? I did the build, but it really doesn't specify. Is it any items that list what your savings are that one will have to pay for in season? So free wheel kit, free colors, free tunnel rack, etc. ?

The tunnel cooler is not an option. It was not speced enough in past seasons to be worth doing. You might be able to contact C3 and get one from them. I do not know.

Thanks Toby. I reached out to C3. I'd had reached out to Yeti a couple days ago but not yet heard back so I'm sure that answer will come when they get a chance.

C3 does sell the yeti coolers, I'm just trying to confirm it will still fit/work with the 2020 updates. I believe the carbon fiber tunnel is still the same between 2019 and 2020, so I would think the change in driver and rail location wouldn't impact it, but need to be sure.

After all these years without a tunnel cooler, I'm tired of messing with temps without one (too cold so cover it, too covered and too hot, throw some snow on it or uncover it, too cold, cover it back up. Ug!). Everyone that I know that runs one, whether a yeti kit or a homemade one on another brand, rarely deals with heat issues, even on a boiler plat spring trail (throw down the scratchers and don't have to stop at all). And being able to run a slightly warmer thermostat, since you don't need the temp buffer, is another benefit. So, whether I retrofit my current brand or go with a new kit of whatever brand, I WILL have a tunnel cooler next season. Would just be nice for it to be a factory setup rather than a homemade.
I'll post back here what I hear (from C3 and/or Yeti).

I do not think the cooler for a 2017-19 Yeti will work on the 2020. The 2020 tunnel is a all new redesign and has a aluminum brace in the front of the tunnel where the cooler goes through. I had one of the new 2020 tunnels in my shop just last week. You might be able to make it work, but it will not be a bolt on.

Drat. Very disappointing. One of the primo features (that no other brand has) gone. I'll research it, with input from C3, but if it can't be done, that will keep me off a 2020 unfortunately. Which will be a major bummer. If a custom tunnel cooler is needed, it will likely be easier to fit to another brand, or go with a 2019 Yeti kit that is compatible with the factory tunnel cooler.

Toby, Thanks for the insight.

Yeti has really set the standard now, Many of the gremlins are addressed like steel front arm, larger chassis bolts, belt alignment with floating bearing,The new track simply rocks, new brake caliper and pads, and now the narrow rail spacing, super lite chassis, The Timbersled cannot climb with it even while poaching the Yeti track.

Who has a 2020 Yeti to demo ride?

Anyone in Idaho/Utah with one of these mounted to a bike for a demo ride? Thanks.

So I was running the Yetimizer thing and when I got to my bike its not available. I have a 2011 YZ450. I am sure it has to do with the pigtail pipe they used in 2010-2013. I can change to a 2014-16 style pipe but I really don't want to because they all seem to crack at least my buddy's have and with what I have burning your pants is a non issue. I like the bike with the full GYTR head and cam setup it flat out kills my buddies YZ450FX with the same kit.

So long story short its the strut rod I'm sure of it. My question is does Yeti have a fixed strut option or have they in the past? With the Camso kit the strut rod just clears the pipe. I could build up a new YZ but my bike works really well and will run with any new 450 so it seems kind of pointless.
