Yamaha Venture Lite

Wondering if anyone has one of these sleds in any year they were made and how they like it?? I am looking into getting one for use of an icefishing/trail machine. I know that most of you guys are from out west and probably don't have one of these but maybe there is someone on here from the upper midwest that owns one.

Pros and cons???

How does it pull a trailer/portable fish shelter???

MPG???

How does it handle slush on lakes???

Cold starting???

Thanks for any info.

I am not really looking for a sled with huge power. I am looking for something that is reliable, fuel efficient, and quiet.

Anyone else have and input??

what are peoples honest opinions on these yami 500 four stroke motors??

I've used one at work a few times,

Its not loud at all, we pulled a toboggan with several jury cans and chainsaws and had 2 people about 400 pounds total on the sled.
Its pretty gutless, its fine on a packed trail however once you fall off or get into the deep stuff you pretty much need 2 people to get it unstuck.
Handles well on the trail.

Ride before you buy it.

I was pretty much thinking of a RS Viking Professional for hauling/cabin access - and I went out and rode one - not at all what I expected. Not knocking it, just a 10yr old design. Most dealers will have some way for you to demo a new sled before committing.

Good luck!

A friend of mine here in the U.P. of Michigan purchased one a few years ago (2006 model) for ice fishing and trail riding. It is a very smooth riding trail machine, but it is very easy to get it stuck, and once you do, you better have a shovel. Guess that's why it is listed as a touring machine. He tows an Otter sled behind it full of gear and also uses it to haul wood on his property, so no issues with towing. The main gripe that he has with it is slush and snow buildup in the tunnel. If you're using it on the lakes and there is any amount of slush, you have to keep picking away at it constantly or the buildup gets to the point where the track rubs on the ice in the tunnel, AND it adds a horrible amount of additional weight. Even trail riding, he gets a buildup, but it is manageable. As far as any problems with it, he has had none, up until this past week. He mistakenly put 87 octane gas in it and while out on the ice, the darn thing wouldnt start, got a code error of 43 or something like that, something to do with the fuel. Had to drag it back to his truck with the help of a friend and put it in a heated garage, put some dry gas in and topped it off with premium. After that it started and hasn't had any problems in the last two days. After reading the manual, it says to only use 91 or higher octane fuel. He contacted the local dealer and they told him the same thing, and also had to disconnect the battery to get the error message to stop flashing.

Thanks guys this is exactly the input that I was looking for!! The whole getting stuck easily and not handling slush very turns me away from these sleds. I was between one of these sleds and a bearcat T660 four stroke two-up, but now am leaning towards the bearcat.
