Yamaha snosport starter motor

The starter motor has a bad armature ...the commutator has a dead spot....does anyone make a replacement start or sell parts? It's a 1990 yamaha snosport.

Have you taken it to a place that rebuilds starters & alternators?
If its completely destroyed, you might be able to match it up at a used parts shop - its similar to the starter on the 125 cc bikes from the same period I think (some may have 3 mounting holes instead of two. Royal distributing lists some parts for the Chinese bikes / carts in their catalogue and some of the pics look close ....

Looks to me some of the winding wires are severed , also the brushes are wore. Probably better off finding a replacement.

Sport starter

Best bet take it to an auto electric shop. They can usually rebuild. Also partzilla.com has a lot of stuff other sites don't. If replacement unavailable try cross referencing w a 125riva scooter. Motors are identical.
