Yamaha Nytro Oil Tank

I have 1000 miles on my Nytro and the oil tank is leaking like many others. Appearantly the economy is such that Yamaha can't help out as my machine is off warranty. They are not doing any GOOD WILL. I accepted the one year warranty when I purchased the machine, I did not opt for the additional warranty thinking Yamaha had great reliability and backed there product when they should. My issue is they know this is a POS and they think the economy is only affecting them, PIZZ poor excuse. We all feel the economy, now I get to spend $300.00 on a fix they could at least offer at cost as they are well aware of this junk azz part. My dealer will help but it would be nice for Yamaha to step up! Just ranting cause it ain't snowing!!!

Oil Tank

I do believe that the tank is more than 300, however the kicker is the tank will start leaking first and then the 90 degree fitting on the bottom will start leaking next.

call yamaha customer relations! you'll probably get a better responce from them, rather then a dealer.

Why not have it welded up?

We have welded a few for customers with great luck.

Go to your local welding shop and have them weld it. Much cheaper then a new tank

If you remove the tank and clean it extremely well, JB Weld will work fine around the bung. I had mine brazed and then JB'd the crap out of it over a year ago and never had any more issues. I also broke off the two ears(where the bolts go through) at the top this last year and had to rivet on a new bracket for it. I refuse to pay for a new one, I'll just keep beefing mine up, lol.

Are they splitting on the seams too? I had the bottom outlet tig welded but didnt do anything else to beef it up.

yes, it does seem to work/help.
i'll know better this season with the tank leak fixed.

I haven't seen any seams split, just thought I'd help prevent it from ever happening. I only did the seam about half way up the tank.
