Yamaha nitro foot stirrup

Hear Ya,

I run skinz running boards which compounds the problem....but wouldn't change them for the world honestly.

Bottom line is you gotta watch out cause if the sled pitches right and you go left, you're either going to break your leg or screw up you knee.

Yamaha nitro foot stirrups

My left foot got stuck in mine on Sunday. Broke my ankle bad. A plate n 6 screws to repair it. Was told to remove the cross tubes but didn't listen.

That stinks. For some reason I always have worried about that so I make sure to keep mine out of there even on the trail. Not a lot of grip on stock boards to keep you from sliding up in there.

Hope you can make a full recovery. Sounds like one of those that won't let you forget about it for a while

Yea i removed mine right after a stupid dismount on my part had me dangling off the sled with my foot stuck under it I could not get free for quite awhile. I got on line and there were a lot of discussions on the merits of keeping them or removing them. I think lot also depends on the size of your foot and the boot you wear.

Sorry to hear that you were one of the unlucky ones Robb and sounds like you paid a big price for it. I think most of us expect a nothing less then a full recover :face-icon-small-ton sliver lining it happened at the end of the season and not the first outing. And there is some good time for recovery before the summer activities get rolling. I apologize up front, since i am not sure where you are, and I will feel like an A$$ for saying it if in fact it just started.

Thanks iam doing ok. It was our last ride of the season here snow is melting fast now. Saskatchewan canada

that was what we all were wanting to hear. Now you have the summer to get it back into shape. that always seems to take the longest time is to get all the muscles strong again after not using them

I think the worst part of my injury was my foot was pointing almost sideways. no torn tendons but damadged the soft tissue in the ankle joint.

My father in law broke his ankle last year about the same time as Robb. Got his foot stuck in the stirrup and got bucked off his Nytro. was pretty serious required surgery. A plate and screws. He's just barely starting to walk normally now. It was a long painful recovery not to mention all the time off of work.

Sorry to hear of another broken ankle caused buy a foot stuck in a stirrup.

I talked with the local Yamaha dealer this summer n told him what happened to me. He said the older Yamaha chassis was worse for boots getting stuck in the stirrups. He said he would hear of 2 to 3 guys getting hurt every winter by having there boot stuck in a stirrup.

I don't doubt that. it happens in with other models as well. Had a friend fall off his older polaris 800 just right and got drug across a meadow by one foot. I took mine off the day after a poor dismount left me hanging below the sled not able to get my foot out until i found a way to get above the sled and it came right out. I think it depends on the boots you wear as well. Some people like them and use them but for me after the first time that was enough for me.
