yamaha hand warmers???

The Yamaha hand warmers suck, But from what I am reading its not the warmers themselfs. its the fact that the sled does not turn the warmers on full untill the RPMs are high enough. I see people are trying to sell over priced boxes that will fix the problem. Why would i blow money on that when i can just wire them into somthing like the head light? has anyone done this so the warmers come on as soon as the sled is running? how did u do it?

Yes the problem is the ECU under 4000 rpm will only give the warmers 10% no matter what the setting, this was veified with a osciliscope. Once the warmers get full consistant voltage they work good. The box you speak of; I had one last year and it works perfect and does not add any load to the ECU and pull power directly from teh battery at the flip of the factory switch. The beauty of the box is that it works with all factory switches and its so clean. Any other solution and your going to lose the control of the handwarmers on the display and you will get a error code flashing because the ECU cannot locate them.

You call it over priced because your are under-educated on how these warmers work! Wiring to a headlight are you serious? This will give you a error code, they will get hotter then haties and then blow the fuse.

Do it right go with the box, or do it wrong and wire them in parallel 06 apex bars with a 07 wire harness and you cant touch the bars any thing over 2 bars on the display puts less then a 1 ohm load on the circuit but so far hasn't caused a problem in any ones sled that have done this.

Kinger9 - what is this box that you speak of? Cost, where to look/purchase, etc?
Thanks

I don't think it was that low... I thought the maximum was 50% under 4000 rpm. You talking about the youtube video of the o-scope?

I have a box and it works just like it should of from the beggining. You want to Jimmy rig something and take out the ECU go ahead but it will be more than what the box is worth. Just over a hundy is not what I would call over priced. Your call.

I think the warmers are BS! I dont want to be crusing up mountain trails at 50mph to warm my hands...especially when they are usually in places where going off the bottom side could mean wasting most of the day getting back out. Yamaha wasn't thinking when they designed their warmers, and definately haven't learned anything from all the customers who dont like them.

The flip side is that if I'm busting pow all day my hands stay toasty...but getting from A to B on a trail I usually have ice on my gloves.

The box seems to work well, and isn't a bad price for the time the guy has into them. If you wire into your headlight you will probably blister your hands and ruin a lot of electrical problems. Other than swapping to the Apex bars, there really isn't a backyard answer for the handwarmers....otherwise we'd have all done it by now.

Sorry to resurrect this but i thought it would be helpful for my fellow Canadians to know that they can obtain YamaHeaters from a Canadian source with no customs delays. Plug and Play units are $224.99 + Tax (we're in Ontario) including Xpresspost shipping. Link in the Sig!

The Yamaheaters from Rock Meister on ty4 stroke work great. Two years on mine now. And they get warm at idle. Gotta love it.
