Yamaha annouces BOOST options for 2011 Nytro MTX !!

It looks like an completely uncoupled skid.
And from the text "Improves weight transfer" = more wheelies!

Really? Dosen't seem right.:face-icon-small-con They release a turbo and supercharger kits and a new rear skid option. It weighs less, but can handle less HP? That sucks.

Yeah, i agree, sounds backwards.
I like the turbo layout with intake straight backward thru oem exhaust hole and exhaust straight forward.

From what i saw and from talking to the people at the yamaha booth at haydays they made it sound like the new suspension was supposed to help with the "wheelie" issue. I think like you guys that it is going to make it worse. But it is a very nice looking system. I'm probably going to wait and let someone else try it out first before i go and buy one. As far as the turbo goes i really liked how it was put together. Using the exhaust hole for intake is a very good idea and they said it won't be much louder then stock. I was very impressed with what i saw from yamaha at haydays and i think a lot of people were everytime i walked by there were 10-15 people around the sled looking at the turbo and suspension. GREAT things are coming from yamaha!!

I think this could be a market test by Yamaha to gauge how many people want a turbo or super on their Nytro. If lots of people opt for boost when they buy their new sled then I could see Yamaha offering it as an option in the near future.

The fact that there is no altitude compensation for the turbo kit that McXpress have is a one bad solution, that there is only calculated on a hill 6000 feet and up makes it less attractive for those people who would buy this.
Otherwise I liked the solution with the air intake and exhaust that runs down in the tunnel.

The rear skid upgrade looks like a copy of the AC float skid. BDX makes light weight (minus 5lbs) chromoly arms for the AC rear skid, so I assume thats what they are. Lots of guys have success putting the AC skid into the Nytro, so Yamaha is just making it easier to do. Glad to see them stepping up to the plate, but this should be the standard rear skid if it is that much better.

Looks very good them new mountain skis
Wonder about the front and rear guard are accessory parts or whether it is delivered to the factory now?
And no air on the sides also? And new kind Raiser.

Do you have a Yamaha part number for the air grid ?
And rear bumper + skis.
Cant find them in the catalog

Those new skis are garbage. Don't waste your time and money. We went through this last season. Yamaha took them back and refunded the money.

So it sounds like this is just a kit that you can buy to install yourself is that right? I would assume that this is not a factory option for the sleds. Does it come with any kind of clutch kit also or are you on your own for that?

If that is the case isn't the ulmers kit the same price and it comes with clutching and everything? It is pretty cool for yamaha to be doing this.

They told us that it would take you about 3-1/2 hours to install by yourself. It did look very simple and straight-forward.

yep, looks very very similar to an AC skid. Did you notice the rear mounting point changes too? Interesting....

Looks like a very easy system to install. They seem to have gotten that right. That rear suspension does look a lot like a cat skid. It looks like they are moving the upper bogie wheel mounting point also. Great steps forward for Yamaha. Wonder if this means that they will offer something from the factory soon.

A skid that drops 25 pounds for just under a grand? I think they are going to sell a LOT of those! I'm curious to see how it handles more HP....they might have a real winner on their hands.

That is what my KMOD gen 1 did for the same price, and I got a new rear shock too.

The skid is only the arms, not the shocks. It looks like the skid will reuse the stock float shocks, rails, and wheels.

Will be testing the new skid on my demo this fall. Also testing a 300 plus hp mcx kit so we will get to the bottom of any transfer issues in very short order. Hoping for an early snow year so we can get some miles on this stuff asap!

Wow, that is awesome.
GREAT move...and maybe others will follow.

I doubt a 2stroke OEM will offer it though.

I like it

I like it. I am mad at myself for not going into the yamaha booth now! I didn't figure they had anything new. I would have at least liked to see this!

I was under the impression that the KMOD was a little more than a grand, but you have to admit that a factory offering a skid that drops 25 lbs is pretty cool.

If nothing else, it proves that the people at Yamaha are listening to us mountain guys and are doing what they can to deliver.
