Yakima Area riding???

Gentlemen and Ladies,
I am coming to the Yakima area next weekend January 7,8 and would like any recommendations you may have for the area. From what I can tell on here, I have three main areas to choose from. Ahtanum, White Pass(Rimrock lake area), and Chinook Pass area. I ride an 06 Apex and the lady an 09 RMK 800. We prefer to boondock and play, but trails are acceptable to get where we need to. I know the snow at lower elevations is limited at this point so I thought I'd shout out to to the locals to see what your recommendations were. We rode at Tollgate Oregon Saturday and found only a few feet of snow in the Blues. We are hoping the Cascades have a bit more! Thanks for any help you can give.

Kinda depends on where you are staying. . . if your in YakiVagas then the Ahtanum is easiest to access and there is sure plenty of room up there.

All three area's are nice, with varied terrain to play in.

Have Fun !!

Thanks Bagger

Thanks,
Plan on staying wherever in the area. I'd travel to any of the three but would really like a recommendation on which area will have highest elevation and potentially the best snow. I don't know where to park/unload so any advice on sno-parks would be great too.

Thanks again

Tampico is the highest at 6,900+ ft its also my favorite place to go. But it is also the most eastern. So snowpack is simular to white pass that is 1,000 ft lower. Little naches is great for beginners and family rides unless u realy know ur way around! It also has the best grooming. Tampico gets hammered by heavy use and not so heavy grooming it can beat u up trying to get to the good places. But it has a lot of very good places ;-). White pass has a lot of varied terrain but u need to be a skillied ridder to access most of it.
