XRS Motor rebuild??

XRS Motor rebuild question??Compression?

Hey guys i have a question for ya....i have the XRS (2006.5 prototype) that i bought at the end of the season in 2007.It had 1100 miles on it when i originally bought it and around the 2500 mile mark of last season i blew the motor(block went).Being a prototype it had no factory warranty but the shop said they would look after us for a year as we bought 2 used sleds from them. They ended up having a XP block in stock with about 500 km on it so they used my top end and had me back out riding the next day:).My question is now that my top end has 2900 miles on it and the block only has about 1200 on it should i rebuild my top end??Im pretty new to sledding so any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

If it was me I would put new pistons and rings in it. I always figured around 3000 miles on a 2 stroke. It could save you a cylinder. You could do a compression check.
I just had my 06 rev go down with 3100 miles on it. It had a slp performance kit on it. Went down the last ride in the spring. I was going to go through the motor anyway before this winter. I am not sure what went. My wife was riding it. It was idling when it went.

Compression check

So i had a compression check done on my motor and it came up 110 clutch side and 120 mag side....I know they are on the bit low side but i was hoping to get through one more season..any opinions?

I'd top it....

You can pay a little now, or alot more later. It is always easier, faster, and cheaper to re-build an engine that is running, rather than to wait until it breaks. Right now you are going to be out a set of pistons, rings, wrist pin bearings, and gaskets. If you lose a ring, ring land or in the worst case scenario - a skirt, you may end up replacing jugs, crank, case, or a combination of everything. Parts have a finite life and after being work-hardened and stressed for so many hours, they WILL eventually fail, you just never know when. It is almost always without warning, and as luck would have it, usually in a place that is VERY inconveniant. For peace of mind, and to save money in the long run, I would top it now, while the bottom-end is still reasonably fresh.

sheffy go with the dual ringed pistons while your at it, i know a guy who might do it a little cheaper than the dealer also call me
