XRS 159", Anybody have good thing to say?

I
I had a 99 summit x 670, the best snowmobile I ever owned. I then bought a king cat, a m8, and a m1000. I don't know why, but I would like to jump back into a skidoo. I found a decent buy on a 07 xrs, I personally feel they are awesome looking snowmobiles, and were very expensive to buy, and I have never ridden one, but they look fun. All I read on here, is negative. Well, I don't buy it, and am looking for people that like the sled and have had it be mechanically sound.

Mine was the best sled I've ever owner....up until it burned down on Saturday. I don't know the cause yet, might be something simple like a plugged main jet, I really don't know. Absolutly great sled, there are 4 in our group and this is the only problem with any of them, happened at 1200 miles.
If the price is right, go for it, it is still under warranty.

Awesome sled!!

XRS 159 is an awesome sled as long as you do the following:

1. MOST IMPORTANT: swap out challenger lite track for the 9941 series track from TRACKS USA. You will not be disappointed.

2. Make sure the crank run out is less than .0024".

3. Have fun!!!

Changing the track for ME was the only thing needed. Last year, I was getting my arse kicked by my buddies on stock 07 800-151's (powderMax tracks). This year, they cant even touch me and I weigh up to 40lbs more than some of them. They gave me crap last year, this year they were very impressed.

Good luck on your decision!!!

i would stay away from 07 revs if you want something that is reliable. if you do buy it make sure it has a new motor in it. have heard good things about guys running polaris clutches on them as well.

I hated mine till I got the new clutching and it seems to work quite well now but not where it should be yet. The track sucks and the clutching is still not great but has tons of potential. Btw best sled ever on the fun meter as far as boon docking and throwing it around etc. No motor problems YET but expecting soon!

Changing the track is the key - buy the 9979 from Tracks USA for $449, move your skid back an inch and the 162" fits without any other mods...

Great sled, great motor. I've seen a lot of guys who have had the track replaced by doo. My brother in law loves his. About 1000 miles now. Only problem was the clutching and that got fixed. Doo traded out his track for free.

i seen the best and cheapest way to make that track work just the other day they are a pretty good track because they are lighter which is less rotating mass which makes mad track speed... but on the track i seen they took the lugs and cut 2 or 3 slices in the lug i think with a hack saw about 2/3 down the lug to make the lugs fold over in the powder it worked really well on his sled and that is what i would do if i ever got an xrs in stead of switching out tracks...:beer;

I have two 07's and i know they arent the xrs models but im not sure where any of that reliability/poor performance comes from because mine have done nothing but run absolutely amazing right out of the box. Right from day one they have reved to 8300rpm with zero clutching/modifications and have had NO problems. I wish you the very best of luck if you buy it but if it is 1/2 as good as both mine have been you wont be disappointed.

I feel i own the best of both world's,i own the 99 x 670 and the 07 800 adrenaline, I took my dad(67) for a rip this weekend and didnt give either a thought of prob's,I let him ride the 07 all day,and i rode old yeller put roughly 60 miles on.I wouldnt let my dad ride a sled i was worring about breakin down,simple facts like they all grenade sooner or later,be it a 4 stroke or 2 stroke is with out doubt planted somewhere in the cerebral.My pops has always been a Cat guy,raced them back in the day(oval stuff),After ridin most of the day ,he determined yhe liked how much easier it was to stand up on,and'or ride.i thouhgt that was pretty cool observation for a old schooler who's last sled was a zrt w /long track.
I beat my 07 like a red headed stepchild,it has scars,here and there,but it steers straight and pulls like a freight train(sure it could be a bit more:face-icon-small-hap) but i'm happy, bone stock 2 boot,mineral oil,1950 MILES/3000klm.
A slong as your dealer adjust for the clutching farces you'll be good to go.

1400 miles on my 159. I absolutely love the sled and would never look back. I have had only minor problems that have been adressed here. Keep the y-pipe bolts tight, and waterproof the ecm.

I owned an XRS 1000 miles,,, second best sled I have owned.. The best sled I have owned is my XP.. I had the 159,,, put a Maverick track on it. Some of the engines had a bearing problem,, if they didnt go in a few hundred miles,, it should be fine. Get a good clutch setup,,,, as with any sled.

I have two o7 XRS. Great sleds with a few minor problems. The one XRS blew a base and head gasket at 2800 miles, chain case at 2900, and a engine at 3000 mi. (last saturday) have a new long block comming on warranty. My other XRS has 2000 mi. and had to replace the altitude compensator on it. I like the XRS's, nice handling sled. Just make sure you have warrenty with it when you buy and try to find one with the updated R engine. Except for the XP it is the only sled I ride. You'll like it!

I really like my 07X got over 1000 miles on it get alittle nervous about it, when I read what happend to winterbrews sled. But what the heck I still love it and have warrenty yet:beer;
