XP THROTTLE CABLE REPLACEMENT... I WONDER WHAT BOOK TIME IS ON THIS?

Put a hole in the front cooler on the old man's sled. Oil pump is real easy to get to if you take out the cooler. Not the most practical, but if you're in there anyway. Just another thought for people who are changing cables.

you guys realize that if your cable breaks the pump goes wide open right? not harming anything besides using some extra oil.

I agree the new cables are much better.

Eric- the only aftermarket available cable is the motion pro I believe and if you think the stock cable was junk you should see this beauty.

Thanks for the input...

I'll be replacing 6 of these for friends over the summer.

Seems to be a problem in the flipper and the cable not being able to rotate the slight bit needed to keep from flexing the cable back and forth too much and causing the fray at the thumb flipper.

The Doo cable itself looks to be a high quality unit...the fit into the flipper seems to be the issue.

Hmmm.... Hope to post more on this later.

I just did another one of these.

Less time but still 4 hours.

Remove side panels, Remove hood/console/ gauge pod.Pull pipe and can, Pull primary, pull secondary with shaft, pull secondary support, slide out airbox and cover.. partially pull carbs and pre heat line on PTO side, slide fuel pump out of the way (remove the vacuum line) , remove engine mounting bolts and torque limit tab. Lift engine up by about 2", fish out the choke cable and snap ring, Replace cable.... put everything back together.

Did this at a friends garage... If it were a clean well organized shop... I'd say you could cut it down to 2.5 - 3 hours... If you were a doo master ... with the lift sling and all your tools laid out... I could see 2 hours start to finish .

Roger that, when the cable breaks it defaults to wide open. I went to oil delete on my 06, no problems for 3 seasons now....

I believe thats just on 2010 and 2011 can anyone verify??

My 2009 cable frayed and broke where the cable comes out of the sleeve down by the oil pump. We were out in the boonies and rode the rest of the day like that, just smoked a lot and drank oil. You could see where it was rubbing on the metal ring at the end of the plastic sleeve and wore out the cable, had around 4200 miles on it though. Replacing the cable while the motor is out getting a complete rebuild.
