XP recoil break??

Has anyone besides myself had issues with the recoil rope? I have had to make new knots after a few rides because the handle holder seems to wear the rope out and almost to the point of breaking. This last ride i didnt catch it in time and it broke and rewound. In the shop to get fixed. I was just wondering if its my sled or a common thing. Thanks..

What I did is use a piece of heat shrink, actually two pieces over the first couple of inches of rope to stop wear. My wifes XP has electric start and it wears on one side of the rope from vibration. So far it seems to have fixed the problem.

I haven't noticed any wear...but I haven't really been looking either. I will check it out tonight. Thanks for the idea on the heat shrink.

Quick fix on recoil rope

If you look at the way the handle sits in the sled, it is cocked causing the rope to rub on the eyelet. I cut off both ears on the handle to help it align better when the handle is in the receiver.

Take a look and you will see what I am talking about.

The rope will wear about 1" from the knot.

Skipping

My recoiler skips when it gets warm. but when it is cold it is fine. took it to the dealer he told me I was high..... well not all the time I said. they told me they fixxed it.... Went for my next ride, first pull on the trail.... I got a handful of air..... Awesome don't you think. Called the dealer he said, well we pulled it over at the shop a bunch of times and couldnt replicate the problem.... Do these people think we are idiots or something.... I would swear they think I am a hypocondriac. I love loading up my sled and taking it to the dealer!!!!!!

If your lazy like me, you can just coat the first couple of inches with GOOP glue, I did it months ago and it worked fine.

I told my dealer months ago and he just shrug his shoulders and didn't care. I look at it every once and a while and re tie the knot. The shrink wrap sounds like a good idea.

Isn't it amazing that when dealers take your sled into a warm shop the they can't find the problem. I wonder where they think we ride these thing, in Florida.

mine did the same thing but I fixed myself, somethings arn't worth driving 45 min. to dealer for. Shrink tube sound like a good Idea
