XP problem?

My '09 800 Everest would run fine, then occasionally would not run over 1/3 throttle.
It would act like a 7000 rpm rev limiter kinda thing.
Stop for a bit & would run fine.
Appears to have come out of it (for now)

DPM hoses all good
Changed plugs
Not sure what to try if it acts up again

could be a stator or relay (is the sled wanting to die? or just not pulling RPMs?). Also check the spark plug caps (make sure they aren't broken where they go around the plug) and make sure the coil is in good shape. Did you check your DPM with a 9volt battery to make sure the celeniod is still functioning?

My 09 did the exact same thing during the last day of my latest trip. It would only hit about 7k rpm then drop down a few hundred rpms. Def was hitting the rev limiter. Was like this for most of the day then on the ride back it ran great. Would rev out just fine. My beeper doesn't work so I couldn't tell if it was beeping any codes. It didn't flash any lights on teh gauges either. Taking it to the dealer next wk. Hopefully they can figure out what happened

Sled will not die, runs fine at idle & low speed.
Spark plug caps is a good idea, will check them.
Not sure how to check coil or DPM solenoid.

It sure seems like a "limp mode"

Ran good today other than one instance for about 30 seconds......which occured after some jumping.

Thanks for the replies so far!

When it acts up, it runs fine up to around 6000 rpm, then acts like rev limiter .......limp mode?

Once over that rpm, it would not act up unless I would let up on throttle.

If I stop momentarily it would come out of it.

Rode all day yesterday & it only acted up 3 times.

I'm not sure if this relates, but I am about 200-300 rpm short of what I was getting at this elevation last month.

Check dpm selenoid. Also check ecm connector for moisture.

How check dpm solenoid?

I don't think moisture problem, was spring type riding when problems first started (no powder)

My gut feeling is sticky exhaust valve?

Another thing I want to mention...
I installed a new belt & had to open the secondary quite a bit to keep it from squealing. This resulted in the belt riding slightly lower in the secondary than I would like it to.
What, if any, symptoms could this cause?

Remove seleniod from manifold, use a pick to push on plunger make sure its free, lube with wd40. Definatley check ecm connector for moisture though, its easy to do.

So an update here- I got the sled back from dealer. It had a few fault codes, one each for the Rave solenoids shorted, and one for the dpm solenoid shorted. They couldn't find any causes for this, but they did clear the codes and it seems to run fine. For now anyway. Guess ill find out during the next trip if i still have a problem
