XP primary clutch sheaves apart, reassembly????

Took primary off and after a couple BIG whacks on the puller, the halves are apart and serviced but without splines how the heck do they stay together. I assume a tapered fit so do you just torque the whole unit down and that pulls them together? The sheaves, on the bench, are loose now but almost together (maybe a 1/16" from being all the way together),normal? So do you just align marks and torque down or am I missing something? Thanks.

yup, you can tap on the outer half with a rubber mallet before you install it back on the sled.
 
yes, line up marks, then torque bolt. Start motor rev it good to engage, shut er down and re-torque. I noticed mine slipped a bit off the marks when I revved the motor.
 
Thanks guys. Got it lined up and torqued down, geez 88 ft. lbs. Now on to the secondary.
 
on my 08 xp theres a dot on the primary and a slash on the part with teeth where electric start could be added...which do u go buy to line up clutch ..little dot on top of sheave thats attached to toothed sprocket or the line on tooth sprocket any one know?
 
frisco u and dan catch any walleyes......sat? my friend did ok down at glen elder last 3 days . he says next wed and thur he thinks its going to be slaughter time
