I bought an HPS can for my '08 last year. Liked the sound- quiet at idle and off-idle, with a healthy roar when "on the pipe".
Buddy has an '09. He has a new HPS can, but his has a real "healthy" performance-sounding idle, a sound that mine is severly lacking. I guess you would say it sounds "crisp" at idle and mid-range, with the same top-end sound as mine. I've ridden both sleds, and there is a very audible difference between the two.
I'm suffering from can envy! I was happy with mine, until I heard how great his sounded. Did HPS change the cans from '08 to '09? I had heard that they did, because the old can would not work with the '09 det sensor. I asked around and was told that this was a load of bull, that the cans were not changed. I've got 300 miles on my can, my buddy has 50, so I don't think mileage is really a factor. Also, both sleds were set-up by the same dealer, with same jetting, idle speed, etc etc.
Has anybody else noticed this change in sound, or am I inhaling too much exhaust?
