xp help?

Hey guys my buddies 09 xp 800 summit is having issues and Im hoping someone might know whats going on. The last 2 times he's rode it after stopping it wont start again and had to be towed out (no spark). He took it to the dealer but it started right up for them and they said there was no problem. We went riding yesterday and same thing towed it out and when we got back to the truck it started up. Any have the same problems? thx

had that happen on my 08 and it was the key[teather]

Yep had same problem, started out when riding and shut sled off, "reset key" would come on when I went to restart. If I fiddled with key it would fire up again.

Dealer told me they had been replacing the DESS Post that the key attaches to. Problem would start as described above and would eventually just not start at all. When tested the keys were fine, fix seemed to be replacing the post.

Never had this happen yet, but it considered me enough to buy a spare tether.

theres a wire behind your chaincase for the voltage regulater it might be rubbing on a rivet causing it to ground out that happened to mine its a bit tricky to find but that causes it to have no spark

Thanks for thr info guys. Red wire coming out of the regulator was welded to a rivet(imagine that). thx again.
