XP driveshaft testing pics!

Subject: 2008 Summit 800X 154. Test site: Rabbit Ears Pass. Results: Pass. I'm patiently waiting for the shaft to break. 370 miles on the odo!

Just cause the sled has EK graphics, doesn't mean you can act like EK.

I didn't. I stayed on the sled If I were to do it totally EK style I would have had a spectacular get off in front of thousands of fans.

Great picture, haven't heard of any driveshaft failure on the summits in my area, by buddies has close to 800 miles on it, but he's babying it.

Mine broke at 500miles. But the way I ride i am surprised it didnt break sooner.

I had mine welded up at 300 miles. I have roughly 420 miles now and is still ticking. Anyone hear of any failures where the driveshaft was welded??

Dealers are welding them if you want. Doo covered mine there. My dealer pushed the issue and Doo agreed. Go get it done! Goose

If it's welded right just give her.You wouldn't believe how strong welds are, when they are done right.

So from what I have been reading, sounds like the drive shafts breaking is random at best, it's not like they are all letting go at a set mileage.

Or is there some magic mileage number where a person should start getting worried when riding in mountains?

I think most started breaking around 400 miles. I think the majority of the failures have been on 163's too! A few 154's, I don't know about 146's
