XP – My thoughts after 1000 miles

my two bits

My 08 xp 154 has 600 miles on it and I am throwing threads now off the first belt, took the plastic off the guard and drilled 4 one-inch holes in it too allow it to breath some. Took the tool case off and put it on the other side near the toe of my right foot held in with a bungee cord. The trip odometer resets everytime I shut down and restart. Thumb warmer is burning hot or off. BUT I love the way it goes in the soft snow that we have been having in McCall, ID so far this winter. Can outrun an 08 Dragon. Hanging in there that I don't have anything serious yet. Spud.

PS, the gas mileage is great too, get 50% better than my old M7

but climbing up a steep incline with all the snow the engine would pull and pull..but it needed to down shift to keep pulling...what would happen, if i did the pull on fresh tracks..the machine struggled..if i did the same pull but right when I would have pulled around, if i ran accross a previous track..the clutch would down shift and off to the races I would go...so not sure if the secondary Helic needs changing or what...any suggestions??

Sorry spud lets set the record straight , you will never come close to a d8 in the deep and steep , been out to many times with xp's they don't compare.
They are a good match to my o7 700 dragon. I can most of the time beat on a xp with my 700 dragon ( dosn't even have a pipe).

Trench, you may be right, but your D8 will never come close to this guy in the steep & deep. I've seen it way too many times. This guy has never lost a race in the deep to a D8 or a D7. They just don't compare to him. I think you wasted your money on the D8.

Finally got my 19 tooth gear installed by the dealer. Seems to pull much harder and clutch seems way cooler. The reason I am saying seems is that we were only in about a foot of fresh today so I want to see what it will doo in two to thre feet.
At the the bottom of the hill I was getting 8200 but was losing it near the top, down to 7700 so it doesn't seem to be back shifting. There was another thread on back shifting that I will have to look at again. Was spanking my buddy on his Mod RT pretty bad today.
