Xm blowing coils.

I know a fellow who is blowing the ignition coils on his sled like crazy, anybody run into this on a etec before. I've never heard or read about it before?

Check all ground wires. If there are any ground wires that are loose this could cause some issues. Does it blow them the second he pulls the cord?

I don't believe so. He can ride the sled for awhile before it dies. The etec has two coils and he hasn't got back to me if it only blows 1 or both, When it happens.

Blown coils

check the high beam switch if he hasnt done the recall tell him to get his replacement from his dealer. mine had the part before id even heard about it, something to check.

Had a new XM quit after 6 miles coils gone. Needed new wiring harness bad right from the factory.

Blew mine at about 92 kms. Took the sled in and had the headlight updates done and havnt had the issue since..

Why not take it to the dealer? That is what the warranty is for.
