X vs. SP shocks

We have one of each this year and there is a clear difference in handling with the X package shocks. My SP just isn't quite as nimble and effortless to ride as my wife's X.

I'm looking forward to some aftermarket shock ride reviews!

Yes, they are both set on 3. Still using the dealer setup so far and haven't started any tuning yet.

I was going to reduce the pre-load on the SP shocks on my next ride out and see how they feel. Trails were a bit whooped up today and they weren't bottoming out so 2 may be okay. We'll see.

On the trail the x shocks are much better. I never noticed a difference in the powder. Unless your doing big drops

Interesting, I didn't think there was much difference on the trails, but I found myself working the SP harder in 12-18" of fresh. The X takes very subtle weight shifts to carve, sidehill, etc. Feels like cheating. The SP is still awesome, but it takes a little more weight shift, a little tug here and there, and some extra counter steering.

Each day we've been out I've jumped on my wife's X just to make sure I'm not dreaming something up and sure enough it just feels easier and more refined.

Rode miles and miles of whooped out trails back when I lived in mn. Maybe I should say depends on how fast your ride trails. We would clip along at 70 to 80 over 6" to 12" bumps. I have not ridden the new sleds I am still on a 10 model. But In 08 I had an x and non x. Both were 154's And I could really tell the difference on the trail. Night and day with same spring settings. x model handled the bumps alot better. I am lucky enough not to have to ride trail anymore. The x shocks should rebound much faster thou. Not sure how it would matter in the powder thou. Interesting!

I think the handlebars also make the X easier to get on its sides.
I put a set of Walker Evans from a Pro on my sp and really dig them.

Ive added Evols X's to a Couple of my trail sleds, Cat Turbo & XR, much more capable than the float 2's and the KYB stockers.Amazing shocks that are infinately adjustable - worth the cash.
