Wtf Why? Senseless Act!!!!

I dont know if I have ever seen a greeny in or around the place. If it was them, why wouldnt they do more?

I would guess some drunken stupid person.... why they would mess with someone elses stuff, I dont know. Maybe you did summn to piss someone off, and didnt even know it.

Nope we hit bed early as around 8 to 9 pm and get up at 5 am. Nobody got drunk in our group. We did not even mingle with anyone else in the bar. We were in bar for just few drinks in between supper and bedtime that is it.

BearLodge is in the northern Big Horn mtns near Sheridan WY. Have been there quite a few times years ago. Was put off my feed a bit with the Lodge while back when I'm in the lobby just listening to the management talking about blacklisting some sledders because one of the wives complained about something. The place has some problems and could be just some drunk locals that hate out of towners tracking THEIR snow. And yes I have heard many times the wingnuts with the obnoxious make your ears bleed pipes in the parking lot. Out of curiosity what brand of sleds were slashed, that right there might be a good clue. I have been thinking about putting in one of the paging motorcycle motion detector alarms on my sled, easy to do now that I have a small battery for running my gauge when the sled isn't running. Would be good retribution to put the laser on my 9 mm on one of these scum bags and watch them make the snow yellow between their feet.

Good Luck in the Future

Brand bashing could be that reason? Both Arctic Cat sleds with slashed seats......

this is definatly shocking to hear. i have stayed there every time i have rode the bighorns & the place is always full of people. i agree, i have never seen a greenie there even when i was there in july. i hope someone hears something & as was stated above, the bar is a good place to hang out. seems like every night of the week there is some idiot drunk in there. talk to the bartenders & the waitresses. someone has to slip up & say something. i'm sure if you talked to rick (owner) he would be willing to offer any help or suggestions as well.

sad part of this is that it looks bad on bearlodge when he had nothing to do with the location. bear is a great place to stay!

good luck!

I will be sure not to go there on next years tour. This is just one more reason for me to keep packing the .44 mag. Some day I'm going to catch one of these scum bags and it's going to be soooo fun..

Why??

Why even ask why this kind of crap has been going on for ever.Child molesters, theives, drug addicts the list goes on, they just do.My truck got broke into in Revy a couple of years back and i lost about 800 worth Why? Because it was there and thats what they wanted to do. i would suspect as economys worsen and people have less and less these things will happen more and more. it;s happening here as well so your not alone. there are a lot of sick people out there and evidently no way to stop them, obviously the law is;nt doing it.It is a very sad thing in deed.:(

That sucks golfsnownut. I remember seeing your sled..... the seat anyway. I pointed it out to one of my buddies saying that was odd using silver duct tape on a black seat. Guessing you didn't have black.

I was a little nervous leaving my sled out on Saturday night too. Kinda thought my boss seat might be gone, but it was there in the morning. Didn't want to move the pickup just to load the sleds in the enclosed for the evening.

I heard a story while I was there concerning the locals. Something to the effect "I don't come to your state and hunt or fish, why the f**k do you come here and snowmobile" Not saying a local did that to your sled, but doesn't really give you that warm and fuzzy feeling of hospitality.

You would think the amount of money that you drop on these resorts that they would maybe provide security in the parking lots.It would be nice to have some lights in the parking lots too.

There are A holes - everywhere you go

My brother, his wife & my father were staying at Arrowhead a year ago when he got his brand new sled stuck in the backcountry -STUCK BAD - since he was basically "alone" to get his sled unstuck (dad too old - wife=wimp). They ended up having to stay the night - out in the wilderness -in a blizzard - and waited until morning to ride out & get help... So they ride out in the morning and get help - only to find that once they got back to the sled with some manpower-the sled was GONE - that same night - they found the sled - loaded up on some jerks trailer and the same jerks were in the bar with their video camera - showing everyone how funny it was that they found this sled & the video shows them them beating the f-ing sh*t out of his new sled - jumping everything they could find -they just about destroyed it. Insurance totaled it out. So brother called the cops - only to be told by the cops that in Wyoming - as long as the thief says he "had the intent to return the sled" it was not stealing -and they couldn't file charges against them since they said- "we planned on dropping the sled off at the police station when we got down the mountain" --YA right! So it just goes to figure - even thought we like to think that ALL snowmobilers are good people - there are a-holes in any group of people! So just be glad you didn't have to stay the night outside in a blizzard on top of it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He left his brand new sled in the backcountry with the key still in it? Crappy story, but that was a mistake.

That sucks about your seats though. Hopefully they find whoever did that bull****

You make it sound like we are all like this>
Sad but there are this type everywhere ya go anymore.
i live and ride here. I know the locals and most of them you will never see that far up the mountain.
sorry to hear about this though. Sure is nice being to just go home after a days ride and not worry about stuff like this.
Hope some one hears somthin soon!!

sent you a PM on this, but would HIGHLY recommend police report if you ahve not already filed it...if you have would HIGHLY recommend suggesting police check out possible Closed Circuit TV systems/Security systems in the hotel, and neighboring area...

this could yield some very telling information...

No such thing....

Unless they have installed a system in the last year(besides the pool area), they have no such thing and as far as neighboring areas, the nearest lodge is 2-3 miles away. Bear Lodge is on the top of the Big Horn Mtns, which is not a populated area as far as cabins/houses. I agree that it would be beneficial to have this. My experience in growing up and staying at Bear Lodge it is usually not the locals that are defacing property. I have seen many people from out of state throw plants, de-humidifer into the swimming pool, ride motorcycles into the bar....Bear Lodge can be very very wild at night.....I am not saying anything about out of state people coming to wonderful Wyoming.....I think it is a great thing for the state of Wyoming we get a ton of people buying registrations, buying fuel/spending money, it is great for the economy!!! No matter where the person is from there will be some that just do not have respect for others property, it is sad!!!

I had a boss seat stole in front of the lodge while we were in eating breakfast two years ago. The last I ever seen of that. Last year there were a few younger kids that had windshield bags stolen out front too I guess. Didnt know them so I dont know what ever come of it.

I did but after few attempts to keep duct tape sticking on the seat failed so I pulled seat out and taped it around the seat but sure is very slippery when doing boondocking and riding in back country.

yeah.. im gonna look like an a-hole for saying this. but hows that boon docking and riding the back country going for ya while sitting on the slippery seat???

Screw those idiots.. I'd be happy they didnt do more than that. buy a new seat cover and move on. There are too many a-holes in the world to let it ruin your life.

I didn't try to make it sound like all locals are Aholes. Nothing is further from the truth. Everywhere we go - some locals are the nicest people you could find and others could care less to talk to you. Same thing goes for the out of staters. There are bad apples no matter where you are. I'm sure the locals get sick of Aholes on sled trips that get drunk and rowdy. I know I would.

I just don't understand the mentality it takes to destroy property or steal somebody's hard earned property. It would be mucho fun to catch them in the act.

I have been staying at Bear Lodge almost every year last 10 years and that is only bad incident we have experienced. Today I dropped off my seat at a local uphlostery shop and I can say that my riding season is done for this year because he is behind the schedule and seat won't be ready till late May. Plus nobody has responded to my swap meet ad so time to pull my golf clubs out of winter storage and polish them up then ready to hit golf courses pretty soon.
