I have two fuel jugs. One red, one yellow. Now, we all know what fuel is "supposed" to go where, right? Let's just assume.

Now I fill the yellow with gas and and a little silica sand that is in our tailing slurry here at work. And I fill the red with diesel and add a little gas so the smell isn't too obvious. Since most fuel thefts are in the dark, I need not worry if they see the color of fuel or not.

The first week the cans got drained (I left them on the side of the shop, next to the ATVs) and those considerate little thieves left my empty cans there. So I re-filled them the same exact way and they didn't get touched again.

All of my gas caps are locking caps, I keep spare fuel in my trailer and never store my sled or bikes outside.

Sucks that someone stole your fuel. Being stranded on a mountain pass with no gas sucks.

Yeah I think I'm gonna start keeping a can of diesel in the trailer, for just in case situations. I had plenty of gas back there, but that does me no good, at least I was able to coast down the mountain.

my pickup has a locking fuel door kinda nice when diesel was 4.15 a gal and that was #2 much cheaper this year in montana tho 3.79 not that the locking door would stop a determined d-bag

You could do what some guys did in the Pine Pass. They hired a rent-a-cop to hide out until the culprits came in to do their dirty work. They just happened to go to work that day and were confronted by the cop. They thought they were gonna be all tough and take this guy on. Bad decision, I guess they got twisted up pretty bad. Serves them right!

Yeah I know. We had someone break the window in the truck once while fishing down at Boysen, but I've never had trouble while sledding. Usually only fellow riders in the lot.

Tried to look at the webcam on the lot, but it's too grainy.
