WTF do you do with your legs?

Is it just me or when sidehilling VERY steep hills in decent pow, especially downhill or even level that i have to keep my leg up by my bars or it sucks me into the snow and pulls me off my bike.

just curius... i know im not the only one that likes to sidehill some good stuff!!

I typically stick it straight out in front of me like I am laying the bike over in a berm. If there is a ton of POW I will just hug the bike with my legs (squeeze the tank) and hope I don't get pulled off the bike :) That's the challenge and part of the fun.....

I let my leg go behind me and use it like a rudder. It helps to keep the track from washing out in super steep climbs/descents by allowing me to add pressure to stand the bike up.

Ditto the rudder technique. It's like starting 1 foot out on a slalom ski when water skiing.

Ive only ridden once so pardon my ignorance but arent you scared that your foot / leg will get caught in the track if you are hanging it out like that? I thought about doing it when I was riding but didnt want to risk my leg getting mangled in the track somehow. Maybe there's no way for that to happen but I wasnt going to risk it..lol. Has anybody ever got tangled up in the track in one of these things?

Thanks.

If you are sidehilling your foot/leg is actually quite a bit above the track. When I do it my leg is bent a bit at my knee and straight back from the seat and the track is down a fair bit lower. When the bike starts to slide out your leg gets even higher up plus I keep mine away from the bike. I must say it never occured to me but I guess anything is possible.

Yep the rudder technique

I learned the rudder technique by accident. This technique can be Life saving on descents. This is why you must have a hand control brake. DUH!:face-icon-small-coo

brakes... dont need no stinkin brakes!! lol. dont have those either. and with the non tunnel on my setup, the rudder technique is risky, especially with the carbide screws in the track.... meat shredder!!

Put them up on the handlebars. You'll be fine!

LoL.... this reminds me of Tyler from Timbersled when we were in Cooke City for Horsefest. We were hauling a$$ down the road, fifth gear, and I look over and Tyler has both his legs over the handlebars looking like he's cruising in a lounge chair. If that doesn't show how nice the new ski is I don't know what will.
