WTB 55 Gallon Drum and GT2860RS

Anyone have an old race gas 55 gallon drum they want to get rid of?

Anyone have a GT2860RS disco potato they have sitting around they want to get rid of?

Let me know, i'm interested.

the RS is genearlly used on yami no? ive seen em for sell in swap as a few are going to the 2871

Never heard of the Disco Potato huh?
I had a turbo M with a 2860RS and one with a 2871. There two different turbo's. The 2871 actually has about 4 different variants to it as well. Depending upon which 2871 you get the compressor maps are very similar. The "disco potato" is cool in that it uses a smaller compressor wheel with the same flow and is a little more efficient.

I'm just a little excited because I bought a dyno and i'm all excited to start trying all different kinds of setups on my sled. Right now i've got an old EVOIII turbo bolted up just to see whats going to happen as there arent too many running them on M8's Next is the 2860RS, then hopefully some different pipe setups, maybe even a water-air intercooler?

I'm also trying to get two attitude boxes (one pump and one race) and a BD box and see how different they are as well.

The dyno has EGT's, intake temp, manifold pressure, fuel flow transducer (for brake specific HP), engine temp sensor. I can also hook my throttle position and wideband sensors in too.

All this data goes into my PC and gets plotted out so I can analyze it later. I think with this setup I can stop listening to all of the heresay and misinformation and really find out what works and what doesnt from a stricktly technical standpoint. I know I know, we don't ride dyno's, what works in the lab doesnt work on the hill etc.. The point isnt really to get legitimate HP numbers, its to compare inputs and outputs in the comfort of my garage.

Problem is that because I am mostly just doing research I need to watch the budget so used cheap stuff is good ya know?

I think I ought to have about 1000 miles on my machine before I even hit the snow!

Thats a long explaination of what a disco potato is, but ya know, I've got sledding on the brain right now... BAD
