WRP boards mounting to side of tunnel

Hello

I need to know......will I wreck my bulk head if I mount these WRP boards to the side of my tunnel like their instructions say to do?

Thanks!!

I wouldn't mount mine to the tunnel, which is one of the reasons I went with Better Boards which do not require and tunnel mounting.

Hopefully Rob Heeb will post with an accurate detailed reason why but I know he states that you should not attach anything to the tunnel sides. The new tunnels are built different and dont use the sides as structural supports.

I bought the Snow Eliminators for my sled which also go up the sides of the tunnel a bit. I never put any rivets into the sides though because there was not enough clearance between the tunnel and track, only about 1/8". I was worried about chewing up the edge of the track!! Sounds like the Better Boards guy has other reasons for not putting a load on the side of the tunnel.

I did not rivit mine to the side of the tunnel. I did however have to cut all the cleats off. Ice builds up behind the cleat, right to the top of the cleat. Now with the cleats cut off, I can slide my feet back and forth on them to help keep the snow out of there.

I installed them on my sled and there are a few of the rivets that I left out where the track might rub. I also bent all of the raised cleats straight up in hopes it would help clear snow better because angled the way they came they held snow terrible. They are an improvement over the stock condition but this is still the single biggest constant aggravation on the sled.I would not install them again. I am still looking for something that works better. I have about worn the bottom off of my Kli, boots kicking snow and ice all day. I kick them just as much as I did before adding them. They are pretty though:face-icon-small-dis

To bad the snow wont clear away, reason for buying those.

But I cant get my head around the wrecking tunnel stuff easily?? Many people learned this by trying? I sure would be quick taking my boards off the market if they destroyed the chassis!!

Besides, V/A has some board plate rivited to the sides of many tunnels I see here. Confused..

As to what boards to put on I think the ones from Fastlane are on to it..
Some UHMW plastick with big holes and some bolt-heads for traction.

Local business makes all kinds of stuff for fish hatcheries in UHMW plastic. Many a salesman for advanced glues have been there claiming they could glue to pieces of plastic together. All have failed so far.
