wr 450 owners/tuners

so I have a new to me 450 and it has a miss in the midrange. I have not cracked into it yet, but do they have any wierd electrical gremlins? I can do a diagnosis once I can actually ride it. just looking for a place to start. I will check jetting one of these days.

thanks.

What year? Haven't been in the wr but my races yz's and the 07's were very lean out of the box. We even went fatter on the the 08 on the needle. 1 clip. Btw, a Dr.D pipe realy wakes up those motors! Strong smooth pull all the way from bottom to top.

Look into a JD Jetting kit for your WR snow spring ... it did wonders for my WR400 and after I turned down the accelerator pump, that bike ran fantastic. ThumperTalk dot com has a lot of good info for your 4 stroker.

If I am jetted for 5000' at 80, it will not run at 50' without the choke. They are finiky if you get them just right at one temp and altitude. So if its cold where you are, keep that in mind.

Thumpertalk is a great site as mentioned.

I had to rejet every circuit on mine, and also did the oring mod on the accelerator pump. It runs t!ts when it's warm.

There is a wire to cut, but I dont remember which one. But in general they do not have electrical gremlins. Mine has been a fantastic bike.

Sorry I am not much help.

dirtrider.com

Great bike reviews and they list what you need to make it run.

I wanna say you cut a gray or white wire. Not sure though, basically makes it more YZ like. I'll see what I can find in old Dirt Riders and tell ya if I see ya next week.

The jd Jetting kit alos worked great on my 07 wr 450, The Dr. D exhaust system made it much better also.

great bikes

take a look at www.thumpertalk.com. they have a great forum there with lots of good info

thanks fellas. I have not had but a few minutes on a frosty road with it, but it has a midrange hiccup. choking it did not make it go away. I figure I might as well get this thing ready since we are banned from fresh snow here.
