Wow, that's a lot of cash

So you know of somewhere else you can buy a vehicle that has supercar power to weight ratios with a warranty and can be found for less than $12K?

Technically wouldn't every motorcycle on the market fit that query? For instance a GSXR 1000 has 156hp and weighs 450lb wet. So more power to weight than a 800cc sled. And I think it has warranty.

But that wasn't the math dude - the math is as a percentage of units sold they had a higher warranty rate, not just a higher number of total units with warranty issue...

Where is the evidence of that? Because to claim that would require intimate knowledge of sales numbers and warranty work numbers.

...or you can take the amount spent on warranty and divide it by sales from units sold.

Yeah, you are right. Crotch rocket does in fact have similar numbers. I'd argue nobody rides a crotch rocket wide open for minutes at a time like we do sleds, nor do they traverse nearly as "variable" of terrain.

But this is all a whole other debate.

Crotch rockets, yes, better sleds on power to weight and are under $20K.

Numbers that are posted every. single. quarter. Not too hard to find them if you dabble in such business :) you don't even have to dig into the 10k usually.

So what's the contributions to this total number we are working with? Goodwill, recalls, and basic warranty claims?

Read the first paragraph of the article. "it paid $132 million in warranty costs and bolstered warranty reserves by another $194 million in 2016." The company has a reserve account specifically for dealing with warranty issues like this. Interesting.
