Work in progress - Polished Tunnel

Call me anal or whatever you like, but I am trying my darndest to get this dam tunnel polished like a mirror. It's starting to look good, but still has some haze and slight scratches. I've used mothers billet polish, never dull, blue angel liquid polish, black, brown and white jewellers rouge and a buffing wheel, 300-800 grit sand paper for the scratches, and even some steel wool. Maybe I am over doing it or something, lol???? But I can't just quite get it right... I've seen many posts about this topic, but can someone just give me a little advice to get that slight haze out?

I will recommend this, first wet sand with 800 then 1000 and fallow up with 1200 grit. You can get away with just a couple passes of 1000 if your scrathes arent bad.I usually wet sand because it keeps the paper clean and cuts nicer.
Second, with a buffer apply 3M high cut rubbing compound to start. Third use the Mothers or THE INTIMIDATOR by hand. And finally use ZOOP seal to give it a protective layer. It's alot of work but its the only way I can get a satisfactory mirror finish.

So I did the other side, and I used a fine steel wool made for aluminum. Basically went over the whole surface cleaning it up. Then I used white jewellers rouge with a buffing wheel on a high speed (2500rpm) electric drill. Worked pretty good, but really messy after a few hours....way better than using elbow grease and a rag with mothers polish.

start out sanding 800 then up to 1500 wet sand. Use a variable speed grinder buy a polishing wheel like the one you use on bench grinder. At the same time by a bar of green polish for that buffing wheel. using the grinder put the bar of wax on the wheel while spinning. Buff up and down when it starts to get harder to see polished area put more wax on. dont be shy on the wax. The tunnel will have black polish on it. Remove with brake clean or paint thiner. After paint thinner use another rag for final polish. If it takes more than 2 hours to polish tunnel doing something wrong. This is how we polsh aluminum fuel haulers when we put scratches in them.

lots of steps
